Summary:
A family moves into a home in a small town to start afresh on their lives. Scary thing is that ghosts are stirrin' up some shit. The baby boy sees them, but no one pays attention. The older daughter does, too but due to a not so mysterious recent history her parents refuse to believe her. Of course.

Review:
The opening scene begins of course with the previous family being wiped out by the "entity" that will soon haunt our present day family. Here's the real funny part to me... I thought, "oh, it's [censored]." Then, of course, the final ten minutes reveal the obligatory cheap dime-store horror movie twist, and it's exactly what I predicted in the opening scene. Boooooh.

The Pang brothers bring a movie that in no way has its own personality. It's as if they were hired to make a movie that would be filmed in time for the projected release date on a small budget. Don't worry about style, flair, or an attractive scheme. Just make the damn movie!
I give credit to Dylan McDermott, Kristen Stewart and John Corbett for making a decent go at what shit material they had to work with. Their performances were more a hit than miss. Too bad everything in this movie in any other way is a miss.

I have gotten very tired of making reviews of horror movies over these past couple years. I can't keep writing different variations of the same thing. I'm a fan of horror, but the downside to that is that most horror isn't made for the fans, but for a profit. Yet again I watched a "horror" film that makes a lot of noise, builds very little tension, has a predictable series of events from open to close, and this annoys the fuck out of me. If you watch even a FEW of these horror movies, you're going to know where every startle is coming from, and most of that time you can even guess the object that will make the noise. like, a bird, or whatever.
I give it props for the gentle performance done by both McDermott and Corbett. They played it low key, which worked. I don't even want to say much else about this flick. I don't have much else possitive to say about it.

Don't waste your time with The Messengers. I don't even want to waste my time reviewing it any more.
